Data Ownership

# Your Data And Its Full History Live In Your Warehouse

A tool that keeps the data on its side decides how much history you keep, and switching tools means starting the company's data memory over. OWOX runs every Data Mart's SQL in your own Google BigQuery, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, AWS Athena or Databricks, with credentials you scope, so the tables and their history stay yours whatever tool comes next.

Why OWOX

When the CEO wants a new reporting or AI tool, you check where the company's data will live, and a tool that keeps its own copy decides how much history you keep. OWOX runs on the warehouse you already own.

* Every Data Mart runs its SQL in your own Google BigQuery, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, AWS Athena or Databricks, against your tables and their full history.
* When the business asks which number is right, the answer sits in your own warehouse, where your SQL can check it.
* Connectors load raw data from ad platforms and SaaS tools into your warehouse, so reports stop being stitched from CSV exports.
* Leaving OWOX never means losing the data: the tables stay, and the data model exports as OKF Markdown or JSON.

## Your Warehouse, Your History

## Switching tools shouldn't reset the company's data memory

The CEO wants a new reporting or AI tool, and you are the one who checks where the data will live. A connector service that keeps the data on its side holds as much history as its retention allows, in a form your SQL can't query. Re-pulling it from the ad platforms later fails, because their retention windows are shorter than the company's history.

THE DATA OWNER

### Connect the warehouse you already run

Open Storages, click + New Storage and pick one of five warehouses. Enter credentials you scope, ideally a dedicated service account, and save. Every Data Mart on that Storage runs its SQL there, connectors load raw data into it, and processing is billed to your own warehouse account.

Your warehouse stays the system of record.

THE BUSINESS USER

### The company's numbers, from the company's warehouse

Reports read the Data Marts the Data Owner built on that warehouse and land in Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel or Data Studio, or answer in Claude or ChatGPT through OWOX MCP. You sign in to your own tool; the warehouse credentials stay with the Data Owner.

The same warehouse behind every report you open.

**Leaving never means losing** — The tables and their full history sit in your warehouse, under your account, whatever you later decide about OWOX. The data model leaves with you too: Data Marts → Models → Actions → Export gives it as OKF Markdown or JSON.

## For Data Owners

For Data Owners

## Your warehouse, your credentials, your bill

Connect a Storage once. Every Data Mart, connector and report on it works against your own tables, with the credentials you scoped.

#### Worked example: connect Google BigQuery

Open Storages, click + New Storage, pick Google BigQuery. Enter the Project ID, not the project name, and a location such as US or EU. Paste a service account JSON key with the BigQuery Data Editor and BigQuery Job User roles, or connect a Google account. Save.

#### Raw data lands in your warehouse

Connector Data Marts load raw data from sources such as Facebook Ads or Shopify into your Storage. SQL, Table, View and Pattern Data Marts query your tables in place, and reports read from them.

#### One Storage per Data Mart, several per project

Each Data Mart lives on exactly one Storage. Add Storages to keep clients or teams apart. Data Marts on the same Storage can be joined; Data Marts on different Storages cannot.

## For Business Users

For Business Users

## Reports straight from the company's warehouse

The rows come from the warehouse the Data Owner connected, not from a copy in another vendor's cloud. You work in the tools you already use.

#### One warehouse behind every surface

A report in Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel or Data Studio and an answer in Claude or ChatGPT through OWOX MCP read the same Data Mart, in the same warehouse.

#### No warehouse login to ask for

You connect your own destination account, such as Google Sheets. The warehouse credentials stay with the Data Owner, in the Storage they set up.

#### History as deep as your warehouse

A report reads the company's own tables, so how far back it goes depends on what your warehouse holds, not on a reporting vendor's retention window.

## Why teams pick OWOX

## Everything business needs

### Your tables, your history

Connectors load into your Storage and Data Marts query it in place. The history goes as deep as your warehouse keeps it.

### Five warehouses, one form

Google BigQuery, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, AWS Athena or Databricks: click + New Storage, pick one, enter its credentials, save.

### Query costs on your bill

Processing runs in your warehouse and is billed to your own warehouse account, like any other query you run.

### Leave with the data and the model

The tables stay in your warehouse, and the data model exports as OKF Markdown or JSON.

## FAQ

## Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a connector service that stores my data?

Here connectors load into your own warehouse and Data Marts query it in place, while a service that keeps the data on its side sets how much history you get and in what format. If you stop using OWOX, the tables and their history are still in your warehouse, and the data model exports as [OKF](https://www.owox.com/blog/articles/okf-ecosystem-tools) Markdown or JSON.

Does OWOX keep a copy of my data?

No. OWOX keeps none of your data: the tables and their full history stay in your warehouse, under your account. OWOX stores only what you set up in OWOX: SQL, fields, relationships, Storage credentials and run history. A report delivers its rows to the destination you picked, such as Google Sheets, and an AI assistant you connect through OWOX MCP receives the rows its query returns.

Which warehouses can I connect?

Five: Google BigQuery, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, AWS Athena and Databricks. Each one has its own setup guide in the docs and its own page among the [data storages](https://www.owox.com/data-storages) OWOX supports.

What credentials does OWOX need?

Credentials you scope, entered in the Storage. For Google BigQuery: a service account JSON key, or a Google account through OAuth, with the BigQuery Data Editor and BigQuery Job User roles. For Snowflake: a key pair, which the docs recommend, or a username with a programmatic access token. The docs recommend a dedicated service account for the integration.

Who pays for the queries?

Your warehouse account. Data Marts run in your warehouse, so its processing costs are billed there, like your other queries. For Google BigQuery, usage costs go to the project you entered in the Storage.

Can I join Data Marts that sit on different Storages?

No. Each Data Mart lives on exactly one Storage, and a join needs both Data Marts on the same one. A project can hold several Storages, for example one per client, to keep their data apart.
