Ad Click-Through Rate (Ad CTR) is the percentage of ad impressions that result in a click. It reflects how compelling your ad is to users and plays a key role in measuring ad effectiveness and relevance.
Divide the number of ad clicks by the number of ad impressions, then multiply by 100 to express it as a percentage.
Ad CTR (%) = (Ad Clicks ÷ Ad Impressions) × 100
Ad CTR (%) = (Ad Clicks ÷ Ad Impressions) × 100
If your ad received 2,000 impressions and 60 clicks, your Ad CTR would be 3%. That means 3% of users who saw your ad clicked on it.
A good Ad CTR varies by platform, but 2–5% is often considered strong for search ads, while 0.5–1% is typical for display. Higher CTRs signal relevant messaging and strong visual appeal.
A low Ad CTR means your ad isn’t resonating – either due to weak copy, poor targeting, or ineffective creative. It leads to wasted spend and lower campaign ROI.
Use clear, benefit-focused copy that speaks directly to the audience’s needs and encourages action.
Align your ad messaging with the user’s intent by targeting the right keywords and demographics.
Run A/B tests with different images, CTA buttons, and ad formats to find what drives the most engagement.
