S01 · Why teams pick OWOX

Why Collect Bank of Canada Data Into Your Warehouse With OWOX?

A revenue column in three currencies does not add up until someone converts it, and a conversion typed into a spreadsheet drifts from the next one. The Bank of Canada publishes official exchange rates. OWOX loads them into your warehouse so every conversion in every report uses the same rate table.

Collect to your warehouse

The rates land in your warehouse, not in OWOX, so you own them. Every connector is included in every OWOX Cloud plan, with no per-connector bill.

Zero-maintenance syncs

The connector is open source under the MIT license, so you can read the code. A Connector Trigger runs it on the schedule you set.

Full-funnel joins

Join the rate table to orders, ad spend or finance data in a Data Mart. The SQL behind every join stays visible.

How it works

R01 · Collect

Collect All Your Bank of Canada Data With Zero Engineering

The connector has one endpoint, Exchange Rates, which carries the daily foreign exchange rates from the Bank of Canada. It is a time series and lands in a table named bank_of_canada_exchange_rates. The table has three fields.

Field Type What it holds
date DATE The date the rate was recorded
label STRING The currency code, such as USD, EUR or GBP
rate NUMBER The exchange rate value

The source needs no credentials, so there is no token or service account to set up. To start:

  1. Add a storage to receive the data: Google BigQuery, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, AWS Athena or Databricks.
  2. Create a Connector Data Mart and choose Bank of Canada as the platform.
  3. Publish the Data Mart and run it for the first import.
  4. Add a Connector Trigger to schedule recurring imports.

The connector documentation has the full setup guide.

R02 · Report

Build Reports With Bank of Canada Data That Everyone Trusts

Once the rates are in your warehouse, they behave like any other table you own.

  • Join label and date to your orders or ad spend, and report revenue in one currency.
  • Define the conversion once in a Data Mart. Every report built on it uses the same rate.
  • Pair the rates with Data Marts built from ad platforms or a shop, so spend and revenue in different currencies compare on one basis.
  • Keep the SQL behind each number one click away, so a finance question has an answer you can show.

Analysts own the definition, and business users get the converted numbers in the tools they already open.

R03 · Why OWOX

Deliver Bank of Canada Data to the Tools Your Team Uses

A Report delivers one Data Mart to one destination, and each Data Mart can feed many destinations.

  • Push mode: OWOX writes the data on a manual or scheduled run. Google Sheets, email, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Google Chat work this way.
  • Pull mode: the tool asks OWOX for the data when a user refreshes it. Data Studio and Microsoft Excel work this way.
  • AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT read the Data Mart, not the raw tables, so answers use your definitions.

S03 · Eight outcomes

Why Use OWOX Connectors to Collect Your Bank of Canada Data?

One basis for every currency

Multi-currency revenue and spend are reported on one basis, from one governed rate table.

Your data stays yours

The rates sit in a warehouse you own. OWOX does not keep a copy.

No credentials to manage

The source is public reference data, so nothing secret sits in the connector.

Scheduled, not manual

A Connector Trigger refreshes the table on your schedule, and nobody pastes rates into a sheet.

Readable by anyone

The connector code is open source, so you can see exactly what it fetches.

Define once, reuse everywhere

One Data Mart with the conversion feeds Sheets, Excel, Data Studio and AI assistants.

Fewer reconciliation threads

When the numbers disagree across reports, a shared rate table removes one common cause.

Free of per-connector cost

All connectors are included in every OWOX Cloud plan.

A3re: trusting AI
Nodari RizunNodari RizunFounder & CEO, Pürblack®
“AI, by the nature of the models, will hallucinate. And because of that, you need something which will create guardrails to ensure that there are no hallucinations, that you can trust your data.”
C9re: one source of truth
Mark SimmonsMark SimmonsCMO, Pürblack®
“We had six or seven different channels and no single source of truth — it was almost impossible, a lot of guesswork.”
